Twelve Pounds of Peanut Shells

I was able to squeak out another audio assignment today for the zone. While it isn't Twilight Zone based, sometimes reading Craigslist can feel like its own alternate universe.

I chose to beat Craigslist because...well, because finding a ridiculous post was pretty fun. I made sure to stick local, so I humbly submit the following performance using material provided by my community:

This was pretty simple, as I stuck to GarageBand loops and samples. I recorded my voice right into the program and then added the radio voice effect to brighten the sound a little bit. It's short, but it was fun.

If you don't believe this post is real...I beg to differ.

This is totally a poem. Minimalist and melancholy, a lot like Kay Ryan or Carl Sandburg.

Of course, I can’t hear the jazz without thinking of So I Married an Axe Murderer.

I want to try this assignment so badly now, awesome work! Brian Short’s already said it, it’s like a poem from a cheesy beatnik flick :) Great work man, you’re shaping up to be a ds106 all star!

    • Haha! Yeah, the cheeseball was a ton of fun. Honestly, the hardest part of this piece was finding a quality Craigslist ad. I wanted to keep it local, which made it double hard. But, if you have looser standards than I do, the “alternate universe” link above takes you to some of the Craigslist gems from across the world.

I am a fan. The “call me” ending is perfect.
